The Many Monikers of Boo McFlanahan

Boo McFlanahan. That was his official name but it never suited him. When I brought him home from the Greeley, CO shelter I tried out various names for about three weeks and none of them seemed to fit (as if he would have responded to any name). I finally settled on Boo because he would often suddenly shoot up into the air and sprint across the room like you had snuck up on him and shouted boo!. McFlanahan was added just to make it interesting. Boo was a unique cat and deserved a name with zing. But as is my nature I called Boo whatever name rolled off my tongue at the time. Some of the more memorable ones are:

, Boo-man, Boomanchu, Boosky, Boosky-loosky, Boo-bear, Bear, B, B-bear, Bebe, Mitty-boo, Boobus, Boobus-Anoobus, Boolicious, Boodiddly, Boodle, Neady, Sneady, Beady, Beadle, Binx, Stinx, Fuzzball, Fuzzbucket, and Tyler.

Tyler should have been his name from the start. It was his real name but I didn’t discover it until Boo was fifteen and in the last six months of his furry life. It comes from a no longer available youtube skit by Nickmom and Tyler called 10 Things You Can’t Do if You Are Not a Cat. Brilliant stuff that and they totally nailed McFlanahan.
