Congratulations! You’re H6a1a
Not too long ago I decided to have a full sequence mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) test done with FamilyTreeDNA. A simple cheek swab and a few weeks later I got the results: Haplogroup H61a1. How cool is that?
That haplogroup is one of the oldest subclads of haplogroup H. Found in most of Europe
, it is also well represented in the near east and central Asia. It has been found in the DNA of the Corded Ware culture (CWC 2800-2200 BCE)—a neolithic group from the Saxony-Anhalt region of what is now Germany. This is according to a very interesting paper on the H haplogroup with the hefty name of Neolithic Mitochondrial Haplogroup H Genomes and the Genetic Origins of Europeans by Paul Brotherton et al.
So there you have it. Below are my mutations from the RSRS baseline.
